![]() ![]() You should start making your way to the chapter 2 towns. You wanna make sure to keep everyone at around the same level or it's going to be a hassle later on. Like I said in another reply, if you keep swapping your characters around, you don't need to grind too much except maybe after chapter 1 and for the secret postgame boss. Quite a few of these are "expanded inventory", so if you don't see them available its s good time to Inquire/Scrutinize the locals until you get Expanded Shop Selection. So if you have the desire and cash, Noblecourt shop sells good headgear with SP bonus, Stillsnow shop has a decent E.Atk hat, and most importantly Saintsbridge's shop sells +500HP and +50 SP accessories. Minor spoiler, but every town on the "second" ring will share ch2 and ch3, and it'll be a while before you can access lategame shops and NPCs. There's some equipment that's worth buying in ch2 shops. ![]() Be prepared to backtrack a lot unless you started with Therion/like him enough to keep around at all times unless you're just moving along the roads. You can also get them from purple chests, there is one on every misc dungeon and in every story dungeon from ch2 and onward. I generally steal equipment pieces before anything else when I visit/revisit towns. The easiest way to get it is simply stealing/purchasing from NPCs. For example, Ophilia starts in Frostlands and Therion in Clifflands, so the Cleric/Thief subjob shrines can be found near Stillsnow and Quarrycrest, frost/cliff towns respectively. Note that if you want a specific subjob, just go to a ch2 town the environment of which corresponds with the character you want the job of. If you already have a few, good, keep searching. If you don't know what those are, explore areas around ch2 towns and visit Shrine-type misc dungeons. Switching out characters, and the gameplay in general, will become much more interesting and accomodating once you unlock subjobs. That should cover you xp/jp wise, especially if you don't neglect misc dungeons and roads around ch2. ![]() Try getting at least 5 encounters on every single map you visit and switching out characters from time to time in favor of ones with lower level. As before it depends on how many encounters you fight and similar, but usually you'll find yourself around level 30 going into chapter 3s and level 40ish going into chapter 4s, all good levels for those chapters. And after all that if you're still not high enough level, you might need to grind a bit.Īfter chapter 2, you generally will find your level mostly stays on par, if you're fighting a good amount. You can simply head for all the different chapter 2 towns and fight stuff along the way, so you can fast travel to them later. At that point, you probably will need to do a few extra things before progressing to chapter 2s (I would advise aiming for four characters who are level 20+ at this point) - there are around six optional caves near chapter 1 towns that have level 15 or 20 recommended levels, there are many side quests that can give good items, equipment and often involve some fighting. ![]() In most cases, after finishing all chapter 1s you'll end up with characters around level 10-20 if you've done no or little side content. Most people end up somewhere in between, naturally. If you explore the plethora of optional dungeons and side quests and fight most things you encounter along the way, you'll probably be constantly overlevelled. If you want to just rush from chapter to chapter, do little side content and avoid fights where possible, yeah, you'll probably end up underlevelled and need to grind. The amount of grinding you will need really depends a lot on how you play and how skilled you are, since the game is very open. ![]()
